HOW DOSAQAQualifications Work?
- SAQA fundamentals qualifications are made up of fundamental, core and elective components.
- The fundamental component is made up of compulsory unit standards. These are required to be completed in order to earn a qualification. These unit standards are often related to communication, literacy, numeracy, health and safety, and more
- SAQA core qualifications are made up of compulsory unit standards that are required to achieve a qualification. The core component is one of three components of a SAQA qualification, along with the fundamental and elective components
- The elective component is made up of unit standards that the learner chooses to complete in addition to the fundamental and core components of a qualification. The number of credits required for the elective component varies by qualification
- The learner must earn a minimum number of credits to be awarded the qualification. The number of credits vary based on qualifications
